I am a bit worried about my boy. Just came from the vet because he has a growth on his neck that is always wet. It doesn't seem to bother him but the not much dies. The vet us going to take it off a week from Thursday in surgery. Waldo is ten years old and I lost my last basset at ten. If anything happens to him I will be a wreck.
When it comes to my fur kids I am the world's biggest worry wart.
My worries are growing. Waldo only ate half his dinner last night. Usually he eats anything that won't eat him first. He is still drinking water and will take a goodie treat so it might not be too bad. I'll buy him a can of wet food and see if he will eat that. I changed dog food because Miss Molly is a picky eater and decided she didn't like the old food ( she gobbled up the new).
Waldo apparently does not care for the new food as he inhaled the can I gave him. One thing is he ate out of Molly's bowl and she out of his. I wonder how they could tell or even why it would make a difference to them.
I am going to thank everyone that has responded and is offering good wishes to my boy. I am pleased to have the support as I need it more than he does at this point.
OK Waldo had his surgery yesterday and since he was already sedated he had his toofies cleaned as well. The vet looked at his lump after he took it off and said he thought it was just an infected wart. Well it looked worse than a wart to me bet I haven't been to vet school either and my vet doesn't worry about my fur kids like I do.
The surgery almost didn't happen. We had eight inches of snow here and they do a real crappy job over clearing the roads. The vetspital is about 20 miles from my apartment and I wasn't sure I could make it. The funny part was that the roads getting to the freeway were better that the freeway. It had so many ruts and bumps it was almost impossible to keep control. I got off and took secondary roads and made it just fine. when I got to the vet I found out all his other surgeries had cancelled for the day and many if his other appointments did too so he could pay extra attention to Waldo. I guess taking the chance paid off. Waldo was at the vet most of the day but I stated nearby. I was still worried about my boy and must have called three or four times to check on him.
Waldo is now fine and doing what he does best. Sleeping. That dog sleeps more than any I have ever had before. He did tell me before he nodded off to make sure to thank everyone for their good thoughts and how he appreciated all you concern. I will add my own thanks and appreciation also.
